When a child living in a remote are suffers a disability of some kind, societal discrimination and the reality of needing to walk to school, keeps these smart, eager children from receiving school education.
With a heart for children with disabilities from the most needy in remote areas of Nepal, we provide a home, a family care atmosphere, and schooling for these worthy children. We create a place of belonging, a community of support and encouragement, and oversee their education right through to vocational secondary school entrance.
PRERANA EDUCATION PARTNERSHIP
Education Should be Every Childs Right
The children of the urban poor in Kathmandu face harsh barriers that keep them locked into generational poverty. We change that through Prerana Education Partnership (PEP).
We work with families who deeply desire their children to have a path from poverty through education, and we partner with them in making it possible. While the parent pays a very little, we finance the balance of the costs of education and oversee their schooling and advocate for the child when they struggle.
But it’s not enough just to send a needy child to school. Due to illiteracy, unfamiliarity with schooling process, and a narrow worldview, we provide non-achademic life-skills training to parent and child alike. This “extra” – is what make the investment of education fruitful – it enables practical application of what’s learned.
